General
The route builders try and make something different from other races to encourage the growth of mountain biking to make a route where everyone will enjoy it without being too difficult or technical. A few farm roads, single track through gum plantations, rural cattle paths in the tribal lands, some rocks, some sand and some climbs.

As per usual the start is at the beautiful setting of the Kwambo Country Club, where there is ample parking on the cricket field, kids playground on the old bowling green. Toilets, showers and cold beers for after the race. The ladies from the Church Fellowship will see to your hunger needs for early morning bacon and egg rolls and more food to follow during the day.

With a lot of the timber plantations having been harvested one gets the impression of a totally new area, which gives the cyclists a wonderful view of the local areas and how lucky we are to be cycling on this, privately owned land. Thank you to all the land owners.
Due to the early start of the race on Sunday morning, camping is available at the club or there are several B&B’s around the village.

10 km route
The route is ideal for children and the less experienced rider. The route is a mix of gravel road and jeeptrack with a total of 120m of climbing which occurs during the first 5 km followed by a nice long downhill ride back to the finish.

From Kwambo Club the route climbs up along a gravel road that will spread out the field, to the start of the first of many single track sections through Eucalyptus plantations into a culvert crossing (rideable) and a short traverse into the adjoining tribal lands followed by a technical single track section (watch out for the tree stumps) and a great downhill run back to the finish at Kwambo Club There is one water table at 13km. The route has 330m of climbing.

50 km route
The route is a good mix of single and jeep track with some technical sections and 755m of climbing with 23km of single track. Starting at Kwambo Club the route climbs out from Kwambo into some Eucalyptus plantations, into a culvert crossing (rideable) taking riders into the rolling hills of the tribal lands west of Kwambo. After 17km, riders are faced with a grueling 2km climb to the highest point on the ride where they will get to the first of 2 water tables.. Thereafter follows a long sweeping downhill section to get the adrenaline pumping. After 32 km the route joins up with the 25km route with a mix of single and jeep track back down to the finish. There are 2 water tables on the 50 km route at 19 km and 35 km.
